A week already??? Crazy. We’ve covered 160 km so far; just over halfway!! I’m still amazed that we’ve covered that distance by foot; not an amazing feat (ha!) for some, but I’m floored.

Today we crossed the provincial border from Asturias to Galicia. The countryside has slowly been changing to a slightly more rugged, coniferous landscape, and a few days ago or so we moved from red-tiled roofs to those shingled with shale.

The terrain of our 25 km today had more level areas, but the final climb into A Fonsagrada was a killer. It was akin to Pocahontas’ Just Around the Riverbend on a vertical, and with approximately 890 bends. Or maybe fewer. Regardless, we were relieved to reach the town atop the hill – again, with picturesque views. I’m SO spoiled here!

My feet hurt today, primarily due to more pavement time. Sorry, Spencos, you’re just not cutting it for me. Thankfully, I’ve broken through a barrier the past few days, and really have very minimal muscle soreness; a bit in the quads with long descents and that’s about it! A couple days ago, however, restarting a walk after a short sitting break was agony. Jokes are often exchanged among pilgrims about the signature “pregnancy walk”; I do believe I’ve exhibited it a few times. 🙂

At our current pace and based on locations of housing, we may reach Santiago as early as Tuesday! Wow. 😮
