- Driving is a continuous game of chicken. What appears to be a one-lane road is generally 2-way, with pedestrians and bicyclists thrown in to make things interesting. The drivers seem nonplussed; I, on the other hand… 😳
- Flower boxes everywhere. Geraniums and petunias grace more windows than not (and I love it!)
- Not all bathrooms are marked with silhouettes of men and women. Some force you to rely on a single letter…this forces one to steal into a stall quickly in case the gamble between D and H was incorrect.
- Toilet paper is not cut into squares, but rectangles. I’ve had to change my 3 for 1 and 8 for 2 formula, if you catch my drift 😉
- Most road signs lack words, using only pictures. I so appreciate this fact – once I deciphered the basic code of shapes and colors.
- Escalators don’t have steps. I may have nearly fallen each time I attempted the moving ramp.
- Lunch in Spain is not served at noon. I think it’s served at 2…or 3… not really sure. Kitchens are usually not open all day. Granola bars were a safety net.
