FALSE.

Jessica claimed it would be a 20-ish hour journey to the evening hotel.

Jessica lied.

I’m finally parked horizontally for the first time in 30 hours. My knees still like extending fully, a phenomenon not available on modern transportation.

After landing in Oslo at 6:00 am, my brain finally caught up to my body, but still left my stomach behind. This was precipitated by meals at 2:00 am, 5:30 am, 11:00 am, 3:00 pm, and 7:00 pm today, punctuated by sleepy head-banging on the bus worthy of a heavy metal concert. We winded (went?) our way through switchbacks over ridges and into a fjord, gawking at water cascades and soaring igneous rock faces the whole way along. Somehow the peanut gallery gravitated toward the back of the bus, and our seat in the bus’ center did not leave us devoid of a running commentary for the entirety of the 5-hour bus ride from Oslo to Lærdal. Julie and I were very grateful to take a short stroll in the drizzle and to step into the hotel room this evening to recharge our introvert batteries.
We were in bed by 8:30 and slept soundly until 6:00 am; hooray! Off to explore the fjord tomorrow. ❤️
