Good morning from Neckarmühlbach! …I think. I had to look it up on Google Maps.

My friend Julia picked me up from the Frankfurt airport yesterday morning, and I spent the next 8 hours trying to visualize the names she was telling me as we drove down the Autobahn. For those of you less ignorant than I, you knew that the Autobahn is roughly the equivalent of interstates in the US. Replace I-5 with A5 and you’re practically in Germany! Driving through rolling hills, maples, and corn fields was reminiscent of northern WI. No wonder My German ancestors got there and decided they could stay! New sites, too: narrow roads, smaller cars, Weinbergs, and a burg on the hill.

After arriving in this-town-I-can’t-yet-pronounce, I was treated to a delicious German barbecue on the patio with sunlight streaming through the rose bushes and looking at the burg on the berg. I think.

Now, after sleeping the past 12 (!!) hours to catch up from an average of 4 per night since I left the US, its time to tackle the day. Off to explore Heidelberg!
